We strive for student growth and achievement.
Teachers at Milwaukee Academy of Science provide primary and elementary students with rigorous, standards-based instruction that drives student growth and achievement. Teachers set high standards for all students and believe that every child is college-bound. MAS scholars will participate in higher education that will set them up for success in the future.
Our staff are professional leaders.
In order to achieve that mission, our staff regularly attends professional development across the nation to improve instructional practice and strengthen our program. Over the last few years, we have implemented Doug Lemov’s Teach Like a Champion techniques and developed leadership opportunities for mentoring among our staff. Our dedicated teachers have witnessed a transformation in our school culture and our test scores are on the rise.
Thanks to a generous federal School Improvement Grant, MAS has accomplished many school improvement goals over the last few years. We have increased planning and collaboration time, created mentoring teams, examined assessments on data retreats, and continued professional development for a cohesive culture of achievement. Additional instructional staff has been hired at all grade levels to provide students with more small-group instruction and allow teachers to plan flexible grouping or co-teaching to challenge all learners.
